The Importance of Showing UP
We might ask what is the purpose of our journey? What is the purpose of your journey? How and where is your faith-journey leading you?
Our journey, yours and mine might be about showing up. God showed up, and our lives are changed forever. Faithful living, sacrificial service, and committed discipleship are all about arriving at the foot of the cross and standing before the empty tomb. Once we have encountered those truths, we know that God has shown up and so must we. We are a people on a journey, and just like children, we are constantly question, “Are we there yet?” Life is not solely about our destination. Life is, most of all, about our journey.
A leading factor in at-risk kids’ becoming incarcerated or addicted, or dying prematurely, is lack of education and dropping out of school. Children and youth don’t start school as those who plan to drop out. They quit due to frustration, inability to read, lack of a mentor, or lack of parental support. The best way to help our students and others is to show up. Think of what might happen if you bother to show up.
Consider the difference in someone’s journey when you simply show up. Change the life of a child forever by showing up. Volunteer. Tutor. Serve. Give. Pray. Witness. Lobby. Lead. The Sunday school is the largest volunteer organization in the world, yet there can be no Sunday school if teachers don’t show up. The church is the body of Christ, yet there would be no church if everyone fails to show up to worship, witness, and serve.
Live out the faith you proclaim. Announce to the world the arrival of God. God showed up for us; it is our time to return the favor.
UMYF Youth Meals
Youth Group Meals are needed for April 7, 14, 21 and 28. The Sign-up sheet is located on the bulletin board in the Education Building, across from the church office. Thank you to all support our youth through providing meals for them on Wednesday evenings.

Attendance information

The ministry of Oberlin United Methodist Church is being experienced by many.
Would you have thought this congregation would ever have moved so far beyond the walls of the sanctuary located at 102 N. Cass? In the words of the song written by Song by 7eventh Time Down:
God is on the move, on the move Hallelujah God is on the move In many mighty ways God is on the move, on the move Hallelujah God is on the move On the move today

Each of you is a part of God’s movement by our presence and participation in the sanctuary and your participation in on-line worship at home. May each of you be blessed and touched by God in a special way today. Thank you for all you do and continue to do. The facial tissue ministry to Unified School District 294, those who knit and crochet prayer shawls, musicians, the volunteers who make up our prayer chain, the volunteers in distributing food boxes, workers at the theatre, those who send cards to shut ins, the workers at the blood drive on Thursday, March 11, those who lead education programs and Bible Study; those who participate in United Methodist Women and Dorcas Circle, and those who help the ministry of on-line worship. The list goes on and on, and we never say “thank you” enough. None of this would be possible without your participation, prayers, and efforts in ministry outside the walls, into the community, and into the world.
